The latest images for the monthly competitions are up. I have just received the judges comments for the digital images which can be viewed here. Trenna Packer Image Selection
5thMay 2013
Reminder
This is a reminder that the selection of our Club's image set for submission to the Trenna Packer competition will take place in 2 weeks time! The full details about this competition were emailed to you on April 14th and are on the MCC Website - however, please note the points below:
Please note that the image sizing is different from that which we use for our Club competitions.
- The subject matter is restricted to New Zealand and its off shore islands. Digital images only.
- Digital images should be saved as jpeg, sRGB colour space, resolution 72ppi with 1400 pixels on the horizontal for landscape and 1050 pixels on the vertical side for portrait, and a file size between 400Kb and 1 Mb.
- Please send your images to gillianclover60@gmail.com by Friday May 17th.
- Put Trenna Packer in the subject heading and ensure that your image file is correctly named (scientific and common names for fauna and flora - avoid descriptive titles). If you are not sure about this just submit and if the image is chosen, the selectors will sort out the title with your help.
Alternatively, you may put images on a USB pen drive and hand it to Gillian
at May 9th Club night.
If you look on the Nature Photographic Society website you will see that the content of the winning set in 2012 was very diverse and not confined to birds, flowers, etc Hence, please remember that geological features, water, cloud formations, etc can also be considered for inclusion in our Club's set of 6 digital images.
Time is running short and we have had only one image submitted so far!! Please help us to get this together - don't hold back! Send as many NZ Natural History images as you wish to Gillian as soon as possible.
Please check out this link to view images from previous competitions.
All the best
Liz Davidson

Upcoming Events
Field Trip - Pine Valley
Pine Valley is where several award winning fungi shots were
taken. The secret location of the log covered in theses fungi will be revealed to the uninitiated, but be warned, it is a long walk from where we park the cars, and the fungi are _tiny_ so you will need your close up and macro kit. We will hopefully find some exotic colours like yellow and blue, but the most prolific, white Mycena variants are not to be sniffed at. You’ll need warm clothing, decent boots/shoes and food and drink. Meet at Blenheim rail station (north of Dillons Point Road)
Workshop - Landscape
This will be a continuation of the landscape workshop by Roger Thwaites. Please bring your images in the form of prints or digital format for comments.
St Mary's Parish Hall, 41 Maxwell Road, Blenheim
